FINNLAND / NORDKAP / NORWEGEN
Nun sind wir seid sechs Tagen in Finnland unterwegs, gestartet in Helsinki und über den Osten in Richtung Norden.
Wir hatten das Glück schon den ein oder anderen traumhaften Platz zu finden und obwohl es hier noch recht kalt ist, geniessen wir das entspannte Reisen, auf meist leeren und traumhaft schönen Routen.
Heute sind wir am östlichsten Punkt der EU angekommen.
Eine ca 20km Piste führt von Hattuvaara direkt zur Grenze Russlands.
Auch hier waren wir, wie bis jetzt immer, alleine unterwegs und so hatten wir auch diesen wunderschönen Stellplatz für uns , inklusive Lagerfeuer und leckerem Essen und natürlich dem ein oder anderen Bierchen.
Wir sind happy , denn genau deswegen sind wir hier ..
We've been traveling in Finland for six days now,
starting in Helsinki and heading north
through the east.
We've been lucky enough to find a few fantastic spots, and although it's still quite cold here, we're enjoying the relaxed travel along mostly empty and stunningly beautiful routes.
Today we arrived at the easternmost point of the EU.
A roughly 20km track leads from Hattuvaara directly to the Russian border.
Here too, we were traveling alone as always
and so we had this beautiful spot to ourselves, complete with a campfire delicious food and
of course a beer or two.
We're happy, because that's exactly why we're here...
So....und es geht weiter immer Richtung Norden. Wir fahren immer weiter durch den wunderschönen Osten Finnlands und sind erstaunt über die Geschichte in die auch wir (Deutschen) verstrickt sind und der Kampfgeist der Finnen beeindruckt uns sehr.
Der Eindrücke sind derer so zahlreich , das es uns schwer fällt hier auf jeden einzelnen ein zu gehen.
Nur soviel, Finnland ist der absolute Naturhammer und erinnert uns wie gesagt sehr stark an die Erlebnisse in Kanada.
Ich weiß das ist so eine Floskel und wird immer wieder behauptet, dennoch meinen wir,
nach fünf Monaten und der Durchquerung des Landes von Ost nach West und wieder zurück,
recht objektive Vergleiche ziehen zu können.
Der einzig eklatante Unterschied ist bis jetzt, das die Kanadier offener und freundlicher sind , um es mal gelinde auszudrücken ( und ich dachte wir Ostwestfalen sind stur ) ;-) .......
wir stehen grad in Rovaniemi am berühmt berüchtigten Santa Claus Village (braucht kein Mensch) und haben gutes Netz , deswegen lade ich hier mal ein paar Impressionen der letzten Tage hoch......
So...and we continue north. We continue driving through beautiful eastern Finland and are amazed by the history in which we (Germans) are also entangled.
And the fighting spirit of the Finns impresses us greatly.
The impressions are so numerous that it's difficult for us to go into detail about each one here.
Suffice it to say, Finland is absolutely stunning in nature and, as I said, reminds us very strongly of our experiences in Canada.
I know that's such a cliché and is repeated again and again, but we still believe
after five months and crossing the country from east to west and back again,
we can draw fairly objective comparisons.
The only glaring difference so far is that the Canadians are more open and friendly, to say the least (and I thought we East Westphalians were stubborn) ;-) .......
We're currently in Rovaniemi at the infamous Santa Claus Village (nobody needs it) and have a good network connection, so I'm uploading a few impressions of the last few days here......
Wir haben es bis ins nördliche Lappland geschafft, genauer gesagt zum Inari See. Doch das Wetter zwingt uns umzudrehen und noch einen Loop in etwas südlicheren Gefilden Finnlands zu machen.
Hier hat es die Tage nochmal kräftig geschneit und die Prognosen für die nächsten zwei Wochen sind,
insbesondere, in Kirkenes (Norwegen) und dem Arctic Highway eher schlecht.
Somit entdecken wir noch mehr von Finnland und hoffen das Ende Mai, Anfang Juni , auch dort oben der Frühling Einzug hält........
We've made it to northern Lapland, more specifically to Lake Inari. But the weather forces us to turn around and make another loop in the more southern reaches of Finland.
It's been snowing heavily here recently, and the forecast for the next two weeks is rather poor,
especially in Kirkenes (Norway) and along the Arctic Highway.
So we're exploring even more of Finland and hoping that spring will arrive up there at the end of May or beginning of June...
Wir sind wie geplant in südlicher Richtung unterwegs und haben die Küstenstadt Oulu erreicht.
Der Weg hierher war geprägt von unzähligen Kilometern Piste und wurde gekrönt von einem Traumstellplatz inklusive Wanderung in der Wildnis , mutterseelen allein......
Die Entscheidung diesen nicht gerade kurzen Abstecher in entgegen gesetzter Richtung zu machen,
war Goldrichtig und wurde mit endlich zweistelligen Temperaturen belohnt ,
sogar die 18 Grad haben wir erreicht ;-)
Das Städtchen hier ist nett und mal abgesehen von der allgemeinen Verschlossenheit der Finnen,
macht Oulu einen recht weltoffenen Eindruck.
Wir werden hier zwei Tage verweilen und unsere Speicher wieder auffüllen und dann ab Mittwoch den endgültigen Anlauf Richtung Norden zu nehmen (Wetterprognosen besser)
We're heading south as planned and have reached the coastal city of Oulu.
The route here was characterized by countless kilometers of dirt road and was crowned by a dream campsite, including a hike in the wilderness, all alone...
The decision to make this not-so-short detour in the opposite direction
was spot on and was rewarded with finally double-digit temperatures;
we even reached 18 degrees ;-)
The little town here is nice, and aside from the general reticence of the Finns,
Oulu gives a rather cosmopolitan impression.
We'll stay here for two days to refuel, and then make our final attempt north starting Wednesday (weather forecasts are better).
....und ein zweites Mal sind wir in Inari angekommen und gleich noch ein Stück weiter Richtung Norwegische Grenze gefahren. Mittlerweile ist das Wetter stabil und die Gradzahl zweistellig, was uns natürlich mega freut. Die Sonne geht kaum noch unter und so sassen wir gestern um 22:30 mit Sonnenbrillen vor unserem Runner und konnten es nicht fassen. Landschaftlich hat Lappland echt einiges zu bieten und das fahren hier ist pure Freude. Erstens ist kaum jemand unterwegs und zweitens hat man das Gefühl durch eine Bilderbuch Gegend zu fahren. Wir werden wohl morgen nach knapp 3500 km Finnland verlassen und freuen uns sehr darauf was der Norden Norwegens für uns bereit hält.
....and we arrived in Inari for the second time and immediately drove a little further towards the Norwegian border. The weather has now stabilized, and the temperature is in double figures, which we are extremely happy about. The sun hardly sets anymore, so yesterday at 10:30 p.m. we sat in front of our runner with sunglasses on and couldn't believe it. Lapland really has a lot to offer in terms of scenery, and driving here is pure joy. Firstly, there is hardly anyone around, and secondly, you feel like you're driving through a picture-perfect landscape. We will probably leave Finland tomorrow after almost 3,500 km and are really looking forward to what northern Norway has in store for us.
....wir haben Finnland verlassen. Danke du wunderschönes und wildes Land. Besonders Lappland hat es uns besonders angetan. Wer weiß vielleicht sieht man sich wieder. Wir sind in Norwegen und wurden von feinstem Wetter und spektakulärer , völlig anderer Natur begrüßt. Es ist wirklich beeindruckend , als wenn jemand einen Cut gemacht hätte, ändert sich die Landschaft direkt nach Grenzübertritt, haben wir so drastisch auch noch nicht erlebt. Wir sind dann weiter nach Kirkenes gefahren und nun mittlerweile in Hammingberg , das so ziemlich nordöstliche Nest in Europa und in der arktischen Klimazone gelegen. Ich sag nur ...WOW !!!! die Fahrt von Vardo nach Hammingberg gehört zu den schönsten Strecken die wir bisher unter den Rädern hatten und das waren nicht wenige . Absolute Traumlanmdschaft bei herrlichstem Wetter......Norwegen du bist gut zu uns und wir freuen uns auf das was kommt.
...we have left Finland. Thank you, you beautiful and wild country. We were particularly taken with Lapland. Who knows, maybe we'll see each other again. We are in Norway and were greeted by wonderful weather and spectacular, completely different nature. It is really impressive, as if someone had made a cut; the landscape changes immediately after crossing the border; we have never experienced anything so drastically different. We drove to Kirkenes and are now in Hammingberg, the most north-easterly place in Europe and located in the arctic climate zone. All I can say is...WOW!!!! The drive from Vardo to Hammingberg is one of the most beautiful routes we have had under our wheels so far, and there have been quite a few. Absolute dream landscape with glorious weather......Norway, you are good to us and we are looking forward to what is to come.
Nordkapp......der touristische nördlichste Punkt Europas. Natürlich mussten wir hierher fahren, obgleich wir eher Vorbehalte hatten. Die Strecke hierher war überraschend doch sehr schön, dennoch ist die Menge an Campern und Wohnmobilen die hier unterwegs sind, so überhaupt nicht unser. Uns wird bewusst das es ab jetzt wohl vorbei ist mit der Einsamkeit.....mal sehen. Wir freuen uns auf alles was da kommt und werden sicher unsere Nischen finden........
North Cape...the northernmost tourist point in Europe. Of course we had to go here, even though we had some reservations. The route here was surprisingly beautiful, but the number of campers and RVs traveling here is not our style at all. We realize that from now on, the solitude is probably over...we'll see. We're looking forward to everything that comes our way and are sure to find our niche...
